At Q doctor we are already working with over 300 GP practices, NHS Trusts and services nationwide to connect people with healthcare professionals via video consultation.
From today, we’re going one step further to support even more patients through our new partnership with leading NHS online consultation service, eConsult, which is currently available to 20 million people via more than 2300 GP practices.
Supporting patients and healthcare systems to thrive
eConsult is a digital triage service, pioneered in 2011 by a group of GPs in South East London to provide GP practices with the ability to accurately assess patients’ needs and decide how they are best managed. By collecting detailed information, patients can then be managed in a variety of ways including sign-posting to self-help information, supplying a prescription or providing a consultation by phone, video or in-person as required.
As well as ensuring patients receive the care and support they need more quickly in a safe environment, eConsult has also played a role in helping to lessen the strain on overstretched NHS services. By reducing DNAs (did not attend) appointments and the number of overall appointments required, as well as limiting the need for unwell people to be within close proximity of each other in GP waiting rooms, the service creates time and space for practices to provide more effective care.
